The world turned to working remotely in 2020, but what’s the future for a remote workforce post-COVID? This session will look into the impact of remote working, how it fits in the future workplace and how organizations can adapt to the potential of a new paradigm.
Nancy A. Meyer will join the Miami Herald as president, effective Oct. 12. She will be responsible for the business operations of the Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald. A media industry veteran with nearly two decades of experience, Meyer has worked at Gannett, Tribune and Hearst. Most recently, she led Florida operations for Tribune as publisher and general manager of the Sun Sentinel Media Group in Fort Lauderdale and the Orlando Sentinel. Meyer will lead the business side of the Herald and el Nuevo Herald, focusing on advertising, finance and operations. She will report to Kristin Roberts, senior vice president of News at McClatchy.
Under Meyer’s leadership, The Sun Sentinel (Fort Lauderdale) was awarded the prestigious 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for its impactful coverage of the mass shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Prior to returning to Florida, she spearheaded a significant operational and digital transformation at the New Jersey Media Group, part of the USA TODAY Network that included The Record, NorthJersey.com, the Herald News, (201) Magazine and a portfolio of more than 30 community publications. Formerly, she held roles as publisher and CEO of the Orlando Sentinel Media Group and the Hartford Courant, Hartford, Connecticut. In 2015, the Orlando Sentinel was awarded a “Top Ten That Do It Right” by Editor and Publisher.
Susan Davidson Talmadge is president and owner of HR Catalyst Consulting LLC. She is passionate about helping individuals, teams and business organizations improve their performance and enhance effectiveness. She set up a consulting business, HR Catalyst Consulting, LLC in 2016 to allow her to work in areas where she knew she could make a positive impact. She retired from Cox at the end of 2015 after 26 years of service. In her last role at Cox, she was group vice president of human resources and managed HR for the Cox Media Group (CMG) Newspapers and CMG Ohio (radio, TV and newspapers). She joined Cox in 1989, and in 1990 became human resources director of the Austin American-Statesman. In 1999, she accepted responsibility for the HR needs of more than 15,000 employees in 17 daily newspapers and 26 weeklies and shoppers as VP of HR for Cox Newspapers, Inc. Two community papers in Texas, The Lufkin Daily News and The Daily Sentinel Nacogdoches, also reported to her for a number of years. During her time at Cox she was a member of several industry newspaper committees and boards, she received the Media Human Resources Association Catalyst Award in 2002. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources since 1994 and received SHRM-SCP in 2015. She is also certified in several training and coaching methods including the Birkman Method, DDI, and Team Coaching International.
